The Top 3 Steps to “Turnaround” into Success

Ready to turn things around? I’ve been at that place hundreds of times in my life. The concept of ’turnaround’ is usually associated with a failure wanting turn things around. But turnarounds can also happen for those that are already successful and want to take things to the next level.
After Wall Street collapsed in late 2008, I committed to turning things around so that I could reach that next level and expand while most others contracted. I sat down with some paper and a pen and identified the real problems that were no longer allowing me to achieve the level of success I desired. I became reinvigorated with new ideas and actions and then started taking massive actions at levels consistent with what I most desired to attain my goals and turn things around. Here are the three main steps I took in getting to that level.

The Top 3 steps to the ‘turnaround’:

1) Commit to turning it around

2) Identify the real problem

3) Create new action plan that will create ideal situation

Until someone decides to change, they will not regardless of the need. A main sign that a person is not yet willing to turn things around is if they are still blaming and making excuses. When a person is fully committed, they will be done blaming and making excuses.

You must determine the real problems. Most people need help with this step because they can no longer clearly see their situation. That is why we mystery shop with hidden cameras on my new show, Turnaround King on National Geographic Channel. People become enamored with false ideas and old beliefs and even chained down by past successful actions. Thus, the individual or management team finds it difficult to identify the real problems and unable to determine an action plan that will actually turn them around.

If you aren’t satisfied with where you are at or if you KNOW you can do more and greater things consider how you can take the three steps above to turnaround your career to another level!

And if you want to see how I put these exact steps into action to help failing organizations turn their business around, watch Turnaround King on National Geographic Channel on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 9pm.
