Do you do the following?
a) Dream big.
b) Have immense goals.
c) Be unrealistic.
d) All of the above.
If you answered “all of the above,” you share the 3 qualities that all highly successful people possess. The successful leave being “realistic” to everyone else to fight for leftovers. If you answered anything else, you still have to figure out: How big are your goals and dreams?
Those in the middle class are taught to be “realistic” and expect average, whereas the successful think in terms of how extensively they can spread themselves. It’s not about being average. It’s about being above average.
Like I discuss in my newest book, The 10X Rule, the greatest regret of my life is that I initially set targets and goals based on what society perceived as “realistic” rather than on giant, radical thinking. Thinking BIG changes the world! It is what makes Facebook, Twitter, Google – or whatever’s coming next.
The successful want to change the world instead of being changed by what’s going on in the world. Realistic thinking, small goals, and trivial dreams simply won’t provide you with any motivation – and they’ll land you smack dab in the middle, competing with the masses.
Be different! Dream big, go big, and then figure out how to get to the next level by taking the next step.
