I remember my mom would say, “Grant remember, you are who you surround yourself with.” I was a kid at the time and I thought I knew it all, so I blew off my mom’s advice. Now that I’m older, wiser, a businessman, a husband, and father, I really understand how important this advice is. Watch this quick video.
As I work to build a strong, solid, network of friends and colleagues, I do so with the understanding that the people who I ultimately decide to surround myself with, will absolutely impact my bottom line… greatness. Who are you surrounding yourself with? Are they making you great?
Negativity blocks the way to greatness. This is a fact. But another fact is that you can’t isolate yourself from the world. Negativity can sneak up on you from your friends, relatives, significant others, co workers, the TV you watch, movies you see, you get my point.
Years ago when I started to get serious about my success, I committed to a “No Negativity Allowed” lifestyle. I urge you to do the same. Commitment to a “No Negativity Allowed” lifestyle is more about who and what you choose to let in. Need a reminder? Call our office for “No Negativity Allowed” signs and wrist bands. Declare your life a no negativity zone, and others will start to come at you in a much more positive way.
Here’s something for you to think about. Write down the names of the people that you interact with most frequently and ask these key questions.
- Are they adding value or draining energy?
- Do they have a good attitude?
- Are they accountable? Responsible?
- Do they have big goals that they are pushing for? Or are they satisfied with average, status quo?
Strive to find positivity.
