10X Town: A Small Story About a Large Idea

10X Ted is the story of Ted, who leaves behind the Land of Normal in X Town to live in the Land of Excellence—10X Town.

Are you living your dreams— or just living normal?

Ted lives in X Town, an average town in the Land of Normal.

The Land of Normal is a place where everyone does what is expected of them and no more. It is a comfortable place. One day Ted gets tired of living in X Town. He wants to move to the Land of Excellence where 10X Town is. He heard it’s better to live there, but difficult to get there—and stay. “Let’s travel to 10X Town in the Land of Excellence!” Ted tells his friends Negative Nancy, Pessimistic Patty, and Debbie Downer.

Outside of X Town, in the Land of Normal, is a deep grassy area where the Party Poopers prey. Party Poopers are two big monsters called Scaremonger and Naysayer.

What’s this?” asks Ted. “This is where the Party Poopers live!” Yells Pessimistic Patty.

“Look—the Party Poopers!” Negative Nancy screams. “You guys can’t go to the Land of Excellence!” Naysayer roars. “It’s too difficult!”

“You are right, it’s too difficult. We can’t,” Pessimistic Patty says. She returns to X Town in the Land of Normal. Scaremonger roars, “It’s dangerous to leave the Land of Normal!” “You are right, I need to be careful,” Debbie Downer says. Scaremonger and Naysayer roar more. Negative Nancy decides to go back too.

Ted is tired of living in the Land of Normal. He ignores Naysayer and Scaremonger and continues on his journey.

Beyond X Town—past the Party Poopers— begins the long, tiresome Extra Mile. This is a long path that connects the Land of Normal to the Land of Excellence.

steem 9.png

Ted begins to walk along the path. Soon, the Extra Mile goes up the steep Hill of Hindrance. Everyone who wants to go to 10X Town in the Land of Excellence has to climb the Hill of Hindrance. It’s steep, and the wind comes down pushing people back.

Steem 10.png

Ted’s legs are tired, and he sees a hole to escape. He enters.

Steem 11.png

It’s easy for Ted to slide down to the other side of the Tunnel of Retreat. Ted looks around and realizes he is now in the Wasteland of Nothing. The Wasteland of Nothing is a place where nobody does anything. People often go there after going down the Tunnel of Retreat. Nothing grows there, and it is very boring.

steem 12.png

Ted does nothing for a while. Soon, he is bored. He goes back up the Tunnel of Retreat. It would be easy to go back to the Land of Normal now.

steem 13.png

Ted decides to try to go up again. It’s difficult, but he must keep trying. Nobody makes it up the Hill of Hindrance without persistence, because it’s long and hard. After much work, Ted makes it to the top. The Extra Mile is almost finished. The Land of Excellence is near!

Steem 14.png

Not many people go to the Land of Excellence. Scaremonger and Naysayer stop a lot of people. For others, the Extra Mile is just too long. The Hill of Hindrance is too steep. The Tunnel of Retreat is too easy. The few people in 10X Town in the Land of Excellence get more done than the many people in X Town in the Land of Normal.

Steem 15.png

Many people who visit the Land of Excellence don’t stay long. They go back to the Land of Normal because the Land of Excellence isn’t very comfortable.

steem 16.png

Ted starts to live in 10X Town, but he soon notices he’s not very comfortable. Then he remembers how scary it was going past the Party Poopers, how difficult it was climbing the Hill of Hindrance, and how tiring it was walking the whole Extra Mile. 10X Town isn’t easy, but X Town wasn’t so fun. It gets boring always being comfortable. Ted makes a commitment to stay in the Land of Excellence. He works hard! Meanwhile, back in the Land of Normal, Negative Nancy, Pessimistic Patty, and Debbie Downer are comfortable.

This compelling modern-day parable told the story of Ted, who dares to leave behind X Town to pursue his 10X Life. You, too, can make a 10X Life. Do you have dreams that are out of reach? Are you waiting for something or someone to make your dreams happen?

You were made for 10X Town. Now it’s time to begin your 10X Life. Every kid has a dream to pursue, and every adult has one too! Let go of the “Normal,” stand up against the “Party Poopers” who control by fear and negativity, and follow that dream along the Extra Mile up the Hill of Hindrance, beyond the Tunnel of Retreat, to the Land of Excellence.

People retreat because success is harder than expected and they give up.

People do nothing, for a time, because of the discouragement after retreating.

People do what’s normal because it’s socially acceptable and easy.

People go massive when they are sick of normal and willing to do the hard things persistently.

Be great today and find your land of excellence.

Though I Still look at the signs and question my path every now and then.

It’s like being in traffic and seeing exits. Take them if you want to but are they really going to get you where you want to be? You want to avoid some adversity but taking that exit but take it on a trip where you’ve never been (success) and often leads down the wrong path or extends your journey more than you had to. Stay focused! Stay on your path! It can sometimes be filled with traffic but when everyone starts taking the exit to take short cuts, you end up in the fast lane ready to coast towards your destination.
Grant, you rock brother! 10x’n my way to greatness. Growing up I remember riding in my dads old blue ford pick up truck, when I was lucky enough to go on his sales trips, he often put on cassettes of good old Zig Zigler.
My dad took a lot of what he learned and implemented it into his career, at one point becoming a millionaire and one of the fastest growing companies in the nation! Sadly, times changed and circumstances too. Short story, paths were taken and rather than coasting my dads just now finding his way back to the freeway, good news is, his way lead me to crossing down paths and roads ultimately if I hadn’t I would have never hit a dead end. Turning around I saw a sign 10x your ass back to the freeway… you’re the zig ziglar in my story. Except 10x better. Best believe when I’m rocking my story, and my already bad ass little boy grows up, he’s going to know I didn’t take any more exits. I’m going to my destination, GREATNESS, SUCCESS,PROSPERITY,PRESENCES,POWER!

That was a wonderful and friendly story to read to people of all ages XD Even though it’ll look bad for others and make them feel uncomfortable with all the truth and negativity the article portraits, it is something most should accept that we are really living in a terrifyingly normal world. Everyone deserves to be successful or at least do the effort of attaining the 10x life for themselves or for others.

Thanks for the Article, and just a suggestion maybe you make this a childrens book one day for the future generation to be more familiarize in the need for money and work so they don’t grow normal and comfortable, accepting life as it is.

More blogs like this tickle the imaginations of readers, it definitely tickled mine :)))) 11/10 😀
