TikTok Challenges

The largest social media disruptor has set its sights on a new opponent. TikTok has recently been teasing a new app that challenges Instagram’s model directly.

What’s the music app’s game plan?

Tiktok’s Newest Set Of Challenges… Going After Instagram

In recent weeks, certain TikTok users have been receiving notifications saying that their photo posts will be shared to a new app called “TikTok Notes”…

So instead of focusing on videos of people quitting their jobs, makeup influencers, and dance challenges, TikTok is developing a new dedicated space for image-based content.

While the designs of the app have yet to be revealed, the aim is to get lurkers, AKA users who watch the content instead of make it…

To engage more than they are on the main app.

If this sounds like the app developers are playing copycat… it wouldn’t be completely out of the realm of possibility…

ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT SOCIAL MEDIA APPS COPY EACH OTHER ALL TIME

Over the past 10 years, different social sites have been “borrowing” features from each other with varying degrees of success…

Before Tiktok’s latest challenges towards Instagram…

Instagram had created an X (formerly known as twitter) copycat app, threads. When that app launched, it became the fastest-growing social app of all time…

And now it faces conflating degrees of success.

Looking Forward

As for the future of the TikTok Notes app, it’s release feels turbulent…

Especially considering increased pressure surrounding potentially banning TikTok in the U.S…

Not to mention the over-saturation of photo-based social media in the market at the moment.

TikTok challenges not just Instagram with this new move…

But potentially their business as a whole.

Be Great,
