Jumpstart Your New Year

How pumped are you to make 2019 the greatest year of your life?

Personally, I’m ready to destroy 2019 with some of the biggest, most insane goals anybody has EVER set.

But if you look around at society, 80% of people will FAIL their New Year’s resolutions by February 15th.

And I don’t want you to become a statistic.

When you’re goals aren’t big enough, it’s easy to give up on them when the enthusiasm dries up.

This is why so many people go back to their old habits in a month.

By February 1st, your January 1st goals will seem distant, perhaps unrealistic…

And you may find your discipline slipping.

And here’s the truth of the matter: If you’re anything like me…

You know how hard it is to develop discipline.

Some days you get it right and some days you get off track.

I can tell you that when I use a daily ritual, I have my best days.

I’m more consistently on track with my goals, and I’m in control of my life.

When I’m disciplined, I feel like I’m winning.

  • I’m happier
  • I have more energy
  • I’m more confident
  • I get more done

I believe that you lose enthusiasm toward your goals because you don’t swim in them every day.

If you don’t have your goals in front of you, then it’s easy to NOT value them.

Using a daily ritual of some sort will help you stay focused on what’s important to you and what actions you need to take to keep your upcoming New Year’s Resolutions.

Rituals help create normalcy, prediction, and control in this unpredictable world.

Keep in mind, I’m not concerned with getting my daily ritual 100% right. I’m more interested in building discipline and beating my goals into my head. That’s why I like to take a short runway by working in spurts.

If I can set a new pattern over a three or five day period, then I’ve proven to myself that I’ve got something good going on.

When I do that, I’m more likely to stick with it.

My daily ritual can change but there are a few things that I always do.

Use these to stay on track with your 2019 resolutions:

#1 Beat the Sun Up

I start with a win. I always do my best when I have control over my day. I wake up before the sun rises. When I beat the sun up, I feel accomplished and that I’m winning. Get yourself psyched up. All you have to do is get out of bed.

#2 Journal Your Future

Regardless of how I feel, I roll out of bed and write down my goals. I’ve been doing this since I was 25 years old. In my book, “Be Obsessed or Be Average,” I talk a lot about feeding the beast and starving the doubt.

My past is not what I have my attention on, it’s my future. I’m not focused on what happened, but what I want to make happen.

Ask yourself what do you want to create moving forward.

I personally use the 10X Planner each day for this.

#3 Keep Your Day Full of Activity

Your doubts and fears will increase when you start to play a bigger game on bigger fields. Control your inner voices by getting a jumpstart on your day. Don’t wait until you get to work to figure out what you’re going to do. Jam your day with so much activity that you can’t get in trouble.

I guarantee that anytime you got off track was because there was too much time available to you. The more time you give yourself, the more time you have to screw up.

Don’t be like everyone else and drop your goals the first week of February.
