It’s the last Monday of 2013 so this Monday Motivator is about how to approach goal setting as we roll into 2014. We all have dreams we want to attain. Now, you can dream or you can achieve and the only difference between the two is the action you take.
You want to get really motivated for 2014? Try this. Look at all you have going on in your life – career, family, finances, community, health, or education for example. Just make a list of the different areas of your life. Then get honest. Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 on how much you are slaying it in each category. Are you noticing that in some areas of your life you are an 8, 9 or 10 while others are lagging at a 2, 3 or 4? Commit to greatness in all categories of your life.
As we head into 2014 make it your goal to take things up several notches in all aspects of life. Be deaf to those who say you can’t have it all! If I’m not constantly changing and doing different things, taking new approaches to my business and expanding, I’ll lose my motivation. If I’m not setting new goals with my wife and looking for new ways to be the best husband and father I can be, then I’ll fall short and start coasting. To me that’s average and I don’t do average. Neither should you.
Take the time to look at all the compartments of your life, and not just this week because it’s a New Year. Revisit it daily and ask what you are doing each day to be the best you can be and live beyond the comfort zone. Then watch how you start to really slay it in each category and how your life starts to change into something more successful and satisfying.
