If you are thinking about doing a podcast, learn from this big mistake I recently discovered: FOCUS
In this article, you’ll learn: What NOT to do with your podcasting strategy.
Before I get to my huge error, let me thank you in advance if you listen to any of my podcasts. I currently have multiple podcasts all in the top 10 on iTunes for marketing, business, relationships, real estate, financial advice and investing. In fact, last month we had over one million downloads across. It goes to show you powerful content dropped every day will build a loyal audience. So thank you.
But I am writing this to share a mistake with you I recently discovered in hopes you don’t make it too.
The Big Mistake
The mistake I made was that I was unable to properly promote the podcasts because I had too many different places for the audience to go. Check out all these different podcasts I have, does anybody else do this many podcasts?
Other professional podcasters like Lewis Howes, Andy Frisella, Gary Vee, and John Lee Dumas all told me, focus on one show. But I didn’t because I thought I knew better.
Instead of 10Xing one show, I tried to 10X the number of shows I was producing.
I’ve been creating a different show every day of the week. Imagine doing a different show EVERY DAY and then figure out how to promote each one.
On Monday, I deliver a live Real Estate show teaching people how to invest in properties. On Tuesdays, I do Power Player interviews with superstars in business, then on Wednesday my wife and I do The G&E Show (the business of marriage); on Thursday I go back to what I am known for delivering the best sales content (it’s not bragging if its true) on Young Hustlers. And every Friday I do a live show called The Cardone Zone which is everything business, career, and finance.
Add to this I juggle a speaking career, five companies, and two kids.
Now you are trying to figure out how I do that many different shows and topics each week but the real issue is how do you do all that AND promote the shows.
You don’t and you can’t, and that is the point. Create one place to promote not seven. Seems pretty basic but I am still learning. I simply wasn’t able to tell my audience where to go to listen to the podcasts because there are so many the message gets diluted. The amazing thing is my shows were all still in the top 25.
The Big Change
So last week I did an experiment and told our listeners to go to one location and our subscribers and reviews pushed us from 25th to 3rd.
And then I did something brilliant. I asked our listeners, “would you rather go to seven different places or one place to find everything Cardone?” 73% of those who listen to my daily shows said ………ONE PLACE.
THE CARDONE ZONE is now the one place to find everything Grant Cardone: Real Estate Investing Made Simple, Power Player interviews with superstar entrepreneurs, authors, experts, coaches and business leaders; The G&E Show – the business of Marriage and How to Build an Empire; Young Hustlers for Sales Professionals; and every Friday I will take your calls on anything and even give you an opportunity to pitch your business.
My Gift to You
Because it took me so long to do the right thing, when you go HERE, subscribe and give me a 5-star review and I am going to send you my newest book Real Estate Investing Made Simple.
Send a screenshot of your review to Melissa@CardoneCapital.com and we will get you the book out in the following week and you are going to love it because everyone ends up buying some real estate at some point in their life, whether it’s for investments or a place to live.
Also if you would like to be on one of my shows or know someone I should interview make sure you leave a comment in the reviews.
You need to 10X your work, but that can be done the right way or the wrong way. The wrong way is to have 10X the activity without a specific focus. The right way to 10X is to put 10X the activity and effort in the one thing that you want to grow.
My mistake with podcasting has been that I tried to 10X it in the wrong way.
Again, be sure to subscribe to my newly formatted Cardone Zone Show HERE.
